Yap Khek Heng is a portfolio manager on NewSmith’s Asian equity team. He has 20
years of investment experience
Prior to joining NewSmith, Khek Heng was a Director at Wellington Management. He
managed the Asia Pacific ex Japan portfolios, which included Hong Kong/China-centric,
Emerging Asia and Developed Asia Pacific (including Australia) portfolios. As part
of the Asian research team, he provided investment advice to Wellington’s global
hedge funds and international equity portfolios on a variety of Asia Pacific ex
Japan sectors.
Before joining Wellington Management, Khek Heng worked for Alliance Bernstein where
he was the primary analyst for the Asia ex Japan industrial and conglomerates sectors.
Prior to joining Alliance, he held a variety of equity research positions in leading
financial institutions, including Merrill Lynch and UBS, over a 14-year period.
His previous coverage included Asia ex Japan real estate, consumer, conglomerates,
and internet stocks.
Khek Heng received his Bachelor of Social Science (Second Upper) from the National
University of Singapore.
