Rob Harley
Global Opportunities Portfolio Manager, London
Rob Harley has over 16 years of experience in proprietary equity trading and portfolio management,
including 10 years with Merrill Lynch and Smith New Court. Prior to joining NewSmith, he was
Co-Manager of The London Bluechip Fund, a UK long-short equity absolute return fund.
From 1995 to 2000, Rob worked closely with Adrian Vanderspuy at Merrill Lynch Singapore on the
proprietary equity trading team. Before moving to Singapore, Rob was Head of Proprietary Trading
at Smith New Court Tokyo and formerly traded in Japanese equities and convertibles at Smith New
Court London, starting in 1991.
Prior to joining Smith New Court, Rob worked at Nikko Securities in London and Tokyo. He attended
Christ's Hospital School, Sussex.
