Chairman, NewSmith Capital Partners, Asia
Check Low, who manages NewSmith's Asia Pacific offices, has over 20 years' experience in the
securities industry in Asia. Prior to founding NewSmith, Check was a Senior Vice-President and
Member of the Executive Management Committee of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. as well as Chairman of
Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific.
Check has served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) since
2000, and was appointed Lead Independent Director in May 2006. Check has also held several
advisory roles on various Singapore Government Committees including the Financial Centre Advisory
Group. Check graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc (Econ) (First Class Honours)
and a M.Sc. (Econ), and was awarded the Allan Young Prize, the Baxter-Edey Award and the Henry Luce
Foundation Award.
