Tan Jee Toon

Tan Jee Toon is a portfolio manager on NewSmith’s Asian equity team. He has 10 years of investment experience.

Before joining NewSmith, Jee Toon was an Associate Director at Wellington Management where he was a portfolio manager managing Asia Pacific ex Japan portfolios, which included Hong Kong/China-centric, Emerging Asia and Developed Asia Pacific (including Australia) portfolios. Concurrently, he was also a regional analyst responsible for the coverage of various Asia Pacific ex Japan sectors, including non-bank financials, transportation, and telecommunications sectors. He also advised Wellington’s global hedge funds and long-only portfolios.

Prior to joining Wellington Management, Jee Toon was an equity research analyst with Merrill Lynch, researching small and mid cap companies. Before that, Jee Toon was with Mercer Investment Consulting as an investment consultant, where he provided advice to institutional investors in Asia, including various national social security funds, central banks and insurance companies. He was also actively involved in investment manager research and was a member of Mercer’s Asia Pacific Manager Ratings Review Committee.

Jee Toon received his Bachelor of Business with honors from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
