NewSmith appoints Jun Miyazaki to head newly established Tokyo office

NewSmith Capital Partners announces today the appointment of Jun Miyazaki as Chief Executive
Officer of its newly-established company in Japan.
Jun Miyazaki was formerly CEO of Gartmore Investment Japan Limited. He has worked in the Japanese
securities and investment management industry since 1975, holding senior management positions at
CSFB, Schroders and Smith New Court. Jun Miyazaki was a Member of the Board of Directors of the
Tokyo Stock Exchange from 1997 until 1999.

Pending regulatory approval, NewSmith Capital Partners Japan Limited will focus initially on
marketing NewSmith Asset Management strategies to Japanese institutional clients.
The Tokyo office is the fourth office location for the Firm, following London and Singapore in
2003 and Hong Kong in 2005.
