NewSmith Asset Management appoints Head of Risk and Control

NewSmith Asset Management, the investment management arm of NewSmith Capital Partners, has
appointed Matthew Weir as Head of Risk and Control, responsible for risk measurement, management
and control processes across all NewSmith funds, and as a partner in the firm.
Matthew joins NewSmith from Brevan Howard Asset Management, where he also served as Head of Risk
and Control, working across a number of different hedge fund strategies. He has more than 14 years'
experience in risk management and accounting and, prior to Brevan Howard, worked at Credit Suisse
First Boston as risk manager for the global interest rate products and European money market divisions.
